Good for you. We have a basketball goal next to our driveway, too. Cemented in very well. I've been trying to decide - do I remove it, do I use it to support a big climber like trumpet creeper or do I just buy a basketball.
Then again it provides a good way to give directions - we're the house on the left with the basketball goal. I'm not the only one on the block with a good front yard garden!
I've got one too! Front yard, near the driveway, with a big old holly tree growing around the net and hoop. I don't even notice it any more, but now that you mention it it IS ugly. I've got a long list of "ugly" to deal with and this isn't at the top of that list.
Welcome to our garden! Since 2007 we have been striving to turn our lawn into something beautiful, tasty, ecologically sound, and a centerpiece of our community here in Franklin, Massachusetts. We hope you enjoy your visit!

An "If You Can Haul It" sign might help.

MrAnts - hmmm. . . perhaps Craigslist is the answer! Thanks for the idea!
Diana - is yours less ugly than ours?

You can also try to freecycle. If the point is just to get rid of it!
Good idea Maureen. Thanks!
