Breaking the bumps can turn into a ...Great article. Breaking the bumps can turn into a medical disaster. I was breaking bumps and had great success until I got a severe rash. I broke a bump and it got infected. Don't break the bumps. Use a disposable hazmat suit when working with urushiol. You can get them from Amazon or eBay for $5 or $8. I use long johns under my regular clothes plus the hazmat disposable suit. You can get infected by the wind blowing the urushiol on your skin. I can get within 5 feet of poison oak and get infected. Everyone is different when it comes to urushiol. Rubber gloves to your elbows is the way to go. Also 2 layers of laytex gloves. I also prepare myself with Caladryl clear before I do anything. I put three layers of Caladryl clear on my face, neck, ears and hands. The disposable hazmat suit is the way to go. Dawn dishwashing liquid is the best way to clean your skin with a face towel. Everything you use needs to be cleaned. I have a spray bottle of alcohol for cleaning my long gloves. Then I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Always use cool water for clean up because hot water activates urushiol. Have some type of steroid cream ready in case you get infected. You'll have to get that steroid cream from your doctor. Urushiol is a biohazard. If it gets into your nose or lungs you can die. Always carry Dawn liquid soap and water with you if you're camping.Errol Dillonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18275799222666691815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7775185725543207452.post-71693222134115643262017-06-16T12:10:27.163-07:002017-06-16T12:10:27.163-07:00These ground cherries have taken over my pretty de...These ground cherries have taken over my pretty desert plants and rocks then have moved to 8 above ground flower beds. The previous summer a minor incidental contact with one of the vines resulted in a double course of prednisone and a trip to urgent care. To wreak my revenge I bought a $12 Tyvek hasmat suit for painters at Lowes' home improvement center along with a pair of neoprene-dipped gauntlets that go up to my elbows for $6. The suit seamlessly covered my shoes, so there is no problem removing and washing heavily contaminated boots (you can't see it so how can you be sure they are clean when you re-do the buckles next time?) The suit also goes over your head. I was foolish not to wear a dust mask for my face as well, but I was lucky. Aside from protecting your lungs and throat, it will protect your face from snapping poison ivy tendrils (one missed my nose by only an inch, like in the Aliens movie). Take off the gloves without touching the cuff of the glove. During the operation, always watch the cuffs of the gloves so that the poison ivy never gets above them, or a leaf or dust could fall in the sweaty glove and cause disaster, but the gloves are so long it's easy to do. Next time I will tape the tops of the gloves with masking tape. When done, simply peel off the suit inside out, so the poison ivy coating is safely inside and throw it away. The $12 for the suit is minor compared to remedies afterward! After bagging 60 pounds of the infernal stuff, I am still entirely symptom free after 4 days. ktkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08685675747116495976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7775185725543207452.post-17761728005290162422013-08-21T21:59:33.226-07:002013-08-21T21:59:33.226-07:00This is cool! This is cool!Chasehttp://bestrecumbentexercisebikes.us/2013/08/15/adjust-the-seat-height/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7775185725543207452.post-26887596625371959972013-08-16T06:23:05.396-07:002013-08-16T06:23:05.396-07:00After exposure use brown soap,ie laundry soap: Fel...After exposure use brown soap,ie laundry soap: Fels Naptha to clean up within 4 hours. I diluted honey with water enough so that it is in liquid, spreadable form and used a washcloth to coat all affected areas with the concoction.
